In a city that generates more than 7,000 tonnes of waste a day, waste pickers not only collect what others discard, but also rebuild social fabric, protect the environment and energize the economy. At the Familia Ciklo ESP Waste Pickers Association, we believe recycling with inclusion is a powerful tool for transformation. We are a grassroots organization made up of urban waste pickers who work every day with courage, intelligence and commitment to a more sustainable Bogotá.
Our work goes beyond collecting recoverable materials. We have become strategic partners for companies and institutions that want to meet their sustainability, circular-economy and social-responsibility goals. Through partnerships with public markets, transport terminals, industries and communities, we recover tonnes of recyclable material that would otherwise end up in landfills.
The Familia Ciklo ESP Association is a triple-impact organization: social, environmental and economic. We positively impact the planet by reducing the carbon footprint, while generating decent employment for our members and strengthening recognition of the waste picker as a key player in the solid-waste management system. We also carry out environmental education, source separation, collection, sorting and transformation of recyclable materials efficiently and with a territorial approach.
We invite companies to see us for what we are: strategic partners. Partners who can help them reach their ESG (environmental, social and governance) indicators, report real social impact and build fairer, cleaner cities.
